New Camera

So I’m sure you can tell that I’m a little crazy when it comes to pictures and photography. To date, I have over 6,500 pictures that define the past five years in my life… You can see them here in my Gallery.

Anyways, I talked my parents into paying for part of a brand new shiny Digital SLR for my birthday. I should be getting it sometime this week… And plan to take it out for a great weekend on the Youth & Government Model Convention in Harrisburg, PA where I’ll be an Alumni Volunteer to help run the yearly leadership conference. Check back often for updates and pictures… I’m sure I’ll be publishing some entries reviewing the new features of the package I’m getting as well as writing about the conference.

I got the entire package through a merchant on eBay and includes:

  • Canon Digital Rebel XTi Body
  • Canon EF-S 18-55mm Lens
  • 2×2GB Kingston Elite Pro 50x Compact Flash
  • 3 pc. Filter Kit
  • Wide Angle Adapter
  • Tripod
  • Table Tripod
  • Aluminum Road Case
  • Soft Carrying Case
  • Lens Cleaning Kit

Urban Challenge Press Releases

  • April 2, 2007 11:20 pm

I just noticed that Case’s public relations office released a press release just a couple days ago… Laura Massie, the PR person working with our team, interviewed me a few weeks back for this, and I kind of forgot about it until I saw its release.

…”Using special software, DEXTER is being taught to utilize human-inspired thinking to choose behaviors based on safe driving ability and legality, important pillars in DEXTER’s operation,” said Bradley Hughes, a 19-year-old freshman engineering major from Pittsburgh, Pa., who is a member of the project’s vehicle control group and is working on increasing the accuracy of the car’s pose awareness from GPS and inertial sensors….Laura M. Massie

You can read the full article by Laura here. Be sure to keep an eye on the Case News Blog, as there will be press releases as we pass project milestones.

Also, if you had not previously read the article in Cleveland’s Plain Dealer, you can find it here. I suggest reading it — the article is very well written and gives a very accurate portrayal of our team’s goals… I was also quoted in the article:

Brad Hughes is a freshman with a heavy class load, but he spends 25 hours a week tinkering with Dexter’s sensors and mechanical systems. “It’s a great opportunity for research,” the 18-year-old said. “I’ve learned a lot, maybe more than in some of my classes.”John Mangels

The article written for Dexter’s premiere at the Cleveland Auto Show. John Mangels, the Plain Dealer’s science writer, has continued working with the team to cover our team’s research through race day.

Greek Week: The End

Today was the last grueling greek week event, rope pull. SigEp had a solid team with solid leadership. There were many rough pulls against Phi Delt, and Sig Chi. Cutting to the chase, there are more pictures under the gallery for rope pull. SigEp pulled a 4th place on rope pull… And a 3rd place over all for greek week…

SigNu placed 1st overall, and ZBT placed 2nd overall… This was an upset from last year. SigEp’s standing record is now four greek week 1st place overalls in six years.

We’ll have to make sure we bring back SigEp’s first place next year.

Great job to all the SigEp brothers that came out this week for the events… I must admit I was proud of the fraternity — and greek life in general, this week.
